Boklok

Joint owners, IKEA and Skanska came together to offer sustainable, quality, low-cost home ownership in early 1990 forming BoKlok. IKEA in functional and inviting homes and Skanska in green building are world leaders. Since 1997 they have built more than 11,000 homes throughout Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, amounting to average 1,200 homes a year. Using hsbcad they have adopted the principles of DFMA by producing as much as possible within the factory, allowing as little work on the building site. Building in a factory lowers their environmental impact, and they recycle most of the leftover materials; less than 1% gets thrown away. Their carbon footprint is less than half that of normal building projects.
